Too….much….music. Can’t….keep….up….
Greetings and salutations from the Music Pill!! There is so much going on in music this month, I had to get this post out before March Madness started. There’s a ton of concerts going around, but I blogged about that last month, so I’m going to stick to music this month. Here are some great albums that either have just been released, or will be soon, that are worth your time.
If there’s albums that I didn’t mention here that are great, you are hereby obligated to let me know about them. 🙂 Cheers.
What I’m Currently Listening To:
Soulfly – Enslaved – Released March 13th.
This album is really pretty brutal. I’ve just gotten into it, but from what I hear so far, Max Cavalera is still a genuis. So far, it seems like it might be Soulfly’s best material since Dark Ages, which dropped in 2005.
Attack Attack – This Means War – Released January 17th
I haven’t been an Attack Attack fan for very long, and I’m still warming up to them a bit, but they are definitely growing on me with this album, which is their most complete album to date. Check out the best song off of this album, Wretched, here.
Lacuna Coil – Dark Adrenaline – Released January 23rd
The fact of the matter is that the female lead’s voice for Lacuna Coil hasn’t been strong enough in the past to really draw me in. However, this album got really good reviews, so I decided to look into it and give them one last chance. I’m glad I did – it’s really solid (but not great). Plus I think that album art is awesome.
Hit the Lights – Invicta – Released January 31st
So, this is a really good album. It’s not necessarily my type of music, but similar to last year’s You Me at Six album, when I want to slow it down a bit, I have really gotten into this album. Check out their song Gravity and see if you feel the same.
Upcoming Albums:
Shinedown – Amyrilis – March 27th
While I’m not a fan of the first single, Bully, at ALL, snippets of other songs and the greatness of their previous releases is enough to make me extremely excited to see the full effort come out next month. Warning to Shinedown – expectations are high – anything less than an excellent album and I’ll be severely disappointed.
The Used – Vulnerable – March 27th
My mind will be going crazy on March 27th trying to decide what to listen to. The Used, which i love for their unique sound and originality, hasn’t released an album since early 2009, and Vulnerable has been critically acclaimed as their best effort yet. Extremely excited for this one as well, as both singles, Hands and Faces and I Come Alive are really, really good.
Hurt has been trying to return to the glory days of Ten Ton Brick and Rapture back on the Volume I and II albums since 2007. They haven’t made it there yet, but I am hopeful this album will see Hurt return to the mainstream radio and touring circuit. I’ve been a fan for a long time. First single, How We End Up Alone, is good, but not great.
Dead Sara – Weatherman – April 10th
Other Albums with potential:
Their first couple songs aren’t really my style. Will Lzzy pull of a better album than the first, or will they solidify their spot as a mediocre hard rock band with a great vocalist and live show?
Their first album was decent, and puts them on the fence. Which side will they fall on with this album?
Manson – Born Villian – May 1
Does the old man still have it? His best stuff is without question his old stuff. Does he have a few more tricks up his sleeve?
